6.Fossil Fuel Power Generation left right
  on
mark New ways of using fossil fuels are being developed in order to reduce generation costs, ensure a continuous power supply, and slow the advance of global warming.

CRIEPI is engaged in research on practical applications of integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) technology, and on reducing the environmental impact of coal-fired generation to ensure cleaner use of various kinds of coal. Other research in this field includes work on a natural gas-based fuel cell generation system and on technologies intended for high-temperature, high-efficiency stable combustion of gas turbines, which are expected to improve the generating efficiency of existing thermal power plants.
