Improving the safety and reliability of nuclear power generation is a
great challenge that must be addressed if we are to ensure energy security
and solve the problem of global warming.
To ensure the long-term stable operation and improve the economic viability of light water reactors,
CRIEPI conducts research on utilization of plant operation, maintenance and management techniques and operating information,
as well as on methods for reducing human error.
To strengthen backend technologies, CRIEPI is also engaged in research on transportation,
storage and disposal technologies for radioactive waste, and on advanced recycling technologies.
