HOME > Electric Power Systems
A large number of power system equipments have been installed during the period of high economic growth. These equipments are supposed to get close to their end of life in near future and it is important to develop maintenance and replacement strategies which can lead to the reduction of the maintenance and replacement costs. A strategic approach, which is called asset management is proposed for an efficient management of aging assets. SERL is developing techniques based on the concept of asset management to support the development of maintenance and replacement strategies.

Massive renewable energies such as photovoltaic generations and wind generations would cause unexpected fluctuations and eventually lead to voltage instability and angular instability. SERL is developing technologies for monitoring the power system stability in real time and stabilizing the power system through wide area measurements obtained by Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs).
