覚醒度が低下するような休憩方法を用い,休憩中の覚醒度推移の違いがその後の課題成績に及ぼす影響を調べた。また,休憩直後に行なう覚醒度上昇方略の効果を検討した。8名の被験者に,加算・検索・トラッキングの各課題を100分間課し,その中間に15分間の閉眼休憩または閉眼+音楽休憩を与え,さらに休憩終了後の覚醒度上昇方略として冷たいタオル+扇風機の風を各条件に組み合わせた全12条件からなる実験を行い,課題の成績,脳波・心拍等の生理指標および,心理指標を測定した。分析の結果,脳波変化タイプと後半の課題成績との間には有意な差が見られ,全帯域において休憩中に脳波変化が見られないタイプのみ課題時間中の成績低下が見られた。一方,休憩前半にθ波の増加,休憩中盤からα2・β1波の増加が起こるタイプが後半の課題成績の維持に最も有効であり,このときに覚醒度上昇方略を用いると,成績維持により効果的であることが示唆された。

概要 (英文)

The purposes of this study are to investigate the relation between the differences of the transition of the arousal level during the rest period and the subsequent task performance, using the methods that will be reduced the arousal level, and to test the effects of the method that will be raised the arousal level on the subsequent task performance. The experimental examination was performed to 8 subjects. 3 tasks (adding task, search task and tracking task) were assigned to every subject for 100 minutes and 2 rests (closed eyes and closed eyes with listening subjects’ favorite music) were inserted for 15 minutes in the middle of the tasks. In the half of experimental conditions, the method, which was expected to raise the arousal level (cold towel and the wind of an electric fan), was inserted. As the results, following were suggested.(1) Almost all of the experimental conditions, sleep were observed during the rest period.(2) As the results of cluster analysis, the 3 types of EEG change were obtained for the transition of the arousal level during the rest period. The type 1 was characterized by increasing theta, alpha2 and beta1 power. Only theta power was increased in the type 2, and no EEG activity changed in the type 3.(3) There were significant differences between the types of EEG change and the latter half of task performances. The decline about performance was only seen in the type 3, and the type 1 was the best one for keeping the subsequent task performances.(4) Although there were no significant differences between the cold towel and the task performances, It had some different effects depends on the types of EEG change. From these results, "an effective rest" could be mentioned that the arousal level must be reduced to the depth of stage 2 (sleep stages) during the rest period as soon as possible. Moreover, the methods that can raise the arousal level, can promote the subsequent task performances.
