Intent of Seminar

Forward for the ISSF 2010

Nuclear power generation contributes to stable energy supply and reduction of green house effect gas, and is increasing now toward future. At the same time, spent nuclear fuel will be also accumulating. Interim storage is playing an important role for flexible management of spent fuel. The interim storage interfaces with the other activities such as transportation in the nuclear fuel cycle. It is important to for industry and public to share and develop the knowledge and standards for safe and reliable transport and storage of spent fuel.
The CRIEPI has held the first and second International Seminar on Spent Fuel Storage in 2003 and 2006. On top of that, the CRIEPI and IAEA are pleased to announce that the third Seminar (ISSF2010) is going to be held with international experts in order to exchange information on spent fuel storage deeply and widely.
