In the project to verify the radiation hormesis effect, in which CRIEPI has played a central role, truly extensive success has been achieved in identifying the effects of radiation hormesis both at the molecular level, which composes living organisms:
(1) Antioxidative enzyme activities
(2) Protein induced synthesis
(3) Cellular signal transduction
And at the whole body level:
(1) Suppressive and anti-cancer effect
(2) Effect on active oxygen diseases
(3) Acquisition of radioresistance
(4) Stimulation to the central nervous system
(5) Epidemiological effect in humans
Ten years have now passed since our initial surprise at Dr. Luckey's thesis and the start of hormesis research at CRIEPI.
