This paper describes the state of the art research works on the thermoelectric generation using semiconductor.It is desirable to convert the low level heat energy,most of which is now wasted,into the electric energy.The authors surveyed the several semiconductors used for the thermoelectric generators.It was concluded that the Bi-Te thermoelectric material has the best characteristics in the temperature range of 300-500 K.According to authors' preliminary calculation,30kW electric power will be generated from the wasted heat of 10 MW fuel cell plant.It is desired,for the future use,to increase the electric power up to three times as large as it is.The improvement of conversion efficiency of the thermoelectric cells and the optimization of the power generation systems are required for this purpose.
