全国約90事例のバイオマスプロジェクト情報を収集し、事業内容、資源収集・運搬方法、電力・熱等の利用方法、事業収支等の分析を行った。事例調査の結果、賦存量と実際にプロジェクトで利用できる資源量（利用可能量）にはギャップが大きいこと、資源収集・運搬システムが多様であること、熱エネルギー利用が難しいこと等の課題を明らかにした。さらに、千葉県を対象に利用可能量の推計を行うとともに、代表的な事例についての現地ヒアリング調査を行い、組織づくりを含めた総合化・システム化の重要性等を示し、バイオマスプロジェクト事業化に向けた方向性・考え方を提案した。

概要 （英文）

The objective of this research was to identify a better method to commercially use biomass energy from a logistical point of view, by clarifying the current status and examining issues involved with the collection of the biomass resources and the energy use. For this objective, we performed an availability estimation of biomass, conducted surveys of existing biomass facilities, and held discussions with biomass experts. 1. In examining the transportation of biomass resources, using our survey of existing biomass facilities, it became evident that:- The amount of biomass usage depended largely on the monetary resources of biomass suppliers, since in most cases the suppliers covered the cost for transportation of the biomass resources.- Biomass, such as compost, had already been well utilized in the areas where there were sufficient biomass resources and efficient transportation for them was available.- Different biomass resources required different modes of transportation. This made it more difficult to maintain a stable supply of biomass.- Biomass transportation costs became more expensive when the biomass resources were located at a greater distance from the biomass facilities. 2. It was crucial for the profitability of a commercial biomass operation to assure there was a demand for biomass electricity/heat consumption. The the collection of the biomass resources was equally important. 3. It was crucial for commercial biomass operations to accurately estimate the available amount of biomass resources during the planning stage so as to insure an adequate input biomass resource supplyand output demand of biomass energyprior to building the biomass facilities. The profitability of commercial biomass operations depended largely on how to insure a demand for biomass heat consumption. It was also evident that biomass facilities should be planned and designed with the participation, cooperation and leadership of the local residents.
