Electric Technology Research Institute established in Komae City, Tokyo, as the central research institute for electric utilities in Japan. |

Nine electric power companies established following reorganization of electric utilities. |
Economic research department added, and the name of the institute changed to Central Research Institute of Electric Power Industry (CRIEPI). |

Electric Power Development Co. established. |
Electric Economy Research Laboratory (later, Socio-economic Research Center) established, along with Electric Power Technology Laboratory. |
